Island living sounds like one thing and is actually three. Here is how Bainbridge, Vashon and Whidbey compare on the questions buyers ask us most.
Commute and ferries
Bainbridge has a 35-minute walk-on ferry to downtown Seattle and a bridge to the Kitsap Peninsula. Vashon is ferry-only from every side, and Whidbey connects by bridge at Deception Pass with ferries at Clinton and Coupeville.
Price and inventory
Bainbridge is the most expensive of the three and has the tightest supply. Vashon and south Whidbey sit meaningfully lower, with more acreage and older homes to choose from.
Daily life
Bainbridge has a walkable town center, a well-regarded school district and a full grocery run within minutes. Vashon and Whidbey trade some of that convenience for space, quiet and a slower pace.
